{ Hello }

Hi everyone, my name is Corey Worley (no, my parents didn’t intend to make my name a slant rhyme). I’m a double-degree student majoring in viola performance and most likely psychology. Technically, I’m from Naperville, Illinois, but I normally tell people I’m from Chicago— close enough, right? My Ober-home is first floor Dascomb, though you’re more likely to find me in the Robertson practice rooms. When I’m not doing homework or practicing my instrument (which feels like never), you can find me teaching private lessons, working at Credo Chamber Music, saving the world in my carbon neutrality focus group, or sight-reading chamber music with friends. If you can’t tell, I’m the kind of person who enjoys staying busy!

So why did I choose the double-degree option? Well I can tell you it’s not because I wanted a “safety net” or a “back-up plan.” I want to integrate what I learn in psychology into my own performing and teaching: I want to know how I can make an emotional impact on my audience and how I can teach music in the most effective fashion. (It also is handy when people watching at the cafeteria or lounge!)

In the next 4-5 years, I hope to grow as an artist, meet lots of amazing, passionate people, and have plenty of laughs along the way! Click away below and follow me through my künstlerroman!

P.S. I’m more than happy to answer any questions about the double-degree program or about music at Oberlin: cworley(at)oberlin.edu.

A catalogue of the Oberlin practice rooms

Now the Oberlin practice rooms aren't simply "four walls, a stand, a chair, and a STEINWAY piano." Each room falls into a certain category of personality.
