Molly Gorin ’16

Hi! My name is Molly Gorin, and I'm a creative writing major and dance minor. I'm from New York City, so naturally as soon as I was old enough to escape I jetted out of my humdrum town to find stardom in big Ohio. But actually, Ohio is great as long as you're not really into hills or a low-key campaign season.

I'm pretty much your average Obie; I speak one other language, run one club where we do an obscure art form, think that my major is also "an art form," do unusual internships during winter term, find ways to travel over the summer, and know how to cook lentils two different ways. Your average Obie is also pretty interesting, pretty passionate, and has a lot to say about pretty much everything. If you're interested in any of this, read on!

Oh, and respectively those were Spanish, rapper sword dance, fiction writing, special education and publishing, Prague and Mexico, and fried with onions or in soup.

Which, I know, should really be called winterm. I've been saying this for two and a half years. It's not catching on.

New York, New York vs Oberlin, Ohio

November 10, 2014

I looked back at my parents, checking in that it was ok to talk to strangers. They conceded with their eyes that as long as I was in Ohio it was also fine to get into windowless vans and take candy from old women in tall pointed hats.
