one week in...

Hellllllo. First week of school done, and I'm writing to you from the road. Indiana to be specific. Sometimes I think it's funny that I'm an Oberlin blogger, because I write so many of my entries in places other than Oberlin. Nevertheless, this is in fact an Oberlin-related trip; the volleyball team is on our way back from Earlham College after going 3-1 in an all-weekend tournament. Not a bad way to finish the first week of school, I must say. While the beginning of my last fall semester of college (AHH) hasn't been too earth-shattering (womp womp), it's certainly been eventful and a little bit crazy.

Of course we go to school to get educated, so let's start with the most important thing: the schedule.

Cognitive Neuroscience - MWF 9:00 am - 9:50 am
Yes, it's early. No, I don't care. Yeah it's senior year, ew morning classes, yada yada, I know. You can't really get around it with science classes. That's just kinda the way it goes.

Physics - MWF 10:00 am - 10:50 am
I want to be a doctor. Physics is required for an MD. That's the short version of why I'm taking this class. I do, however, really like the professor (even though he makes this crazy intense eye contact with people sporadically during class). BUT I did try to start our first problem set last night...uhh what is this math thing?

Biochemistry - MWF 11:00 am - 11:50 am
This is a joke. I'm not taking biochemistry. Yeah right, get real.

Black Popular Literature - MW 2:30 pm - 4:20 pm
Usually I stay away from afternoon classes because they rub right again volleyball practice and I'm super inclined to falling asleep in public around this time of day, but this course was just too good to miss. Not only is it a small class with hella dope folks, the reading list is bomb diggity and Professor Gatsby is a renaissance woman in every sense of the word. Stoked.

Intro to Comparative American Studies - TR 9:30 am - 10:50 am
This class is really funny. It's an intro class, so there are hella first-years, but (awesomely) there are also so many seniors who need the class for their majors/minors and just haven't taken it yet. The discussions will be interesting. Also, Meredith Raimondo is amazing. When I say I'm minoring in CAS, I actually mean I'm minoring in Meredith Raimondo.

Theory and Practice of Health Promotion - TR 12:15 pm - 1:15 pm
As of recent, I've begun working in the Student Health Services and I'm pumpedddd. But also, I have to take another class. And when I say take a class, I mean attend staff meetings. Whoooo, my first official private reading. Doing it big.

Physics lab - T 1:30 pm - 4:20 pm
Required. The things we take on for career success.

Cognitive Neuroscience lab - R 1:30 - 4:20 pm
See above. Also I had no idea I was signing up for straight up computer programming. This should be interesting. However, P/NP is a beautiful thing.

And that's just class. Outside of class, I will be lending my brain to:

Volleyball
Third World co-op
Zami (the organization for queer people of color)
OSWell

Plus my friends. Plus my roommate.

When will I sleep? NEVER. Do I care? NO. Why? BECAUSE THIS THE LAST FALL I HAVE TO DO THIS. And it's going to be awesome.
