{ The Weather Here: Part II }

If you're wondering about the title (particularly the Part II), I intended for this post to be a vague sequel to a post I did a little over a year ago: The Weather Here: A Summary

The weather here ...

It feels like the snow has come and gone, and come, then gone, and then it came back.

And it's gone again!

Now Thanksgiving is over, and the past few weeks in Oberlin have felt like:

Particularly, it's been raining and windy, not snowing and icy. This has only added to the confusion that mounts as the semester comes to a close. Worrying about the end of semester workload increasing while looking outside at the gray sky and wet concrete is a very different experience from the same time last year. Finals are coming up and walking from the Mudd library late at night is accompanied by wind finding its way over every patch of skin my jacket, coat, and beanie combo leaves exposed.

On top of the weather differences, this feels like a different end-of-first-semester altogether. I have a more thorough understanding of what it means to do computer science, and that both makes me more confident in my studies and intimidates me with the amount I have yet to understand -- even more, the amount I don't know. I have 3 finals that I will be responsible for turning in online or handing in during finals week, which is the exact opposite from the 3 tests that stressed me out as they drew nearer each day during finals week last year.

Still, there are some things that don't change. There's a lot of work, no matter how you look at it. I have to write and sort and turn in applications for creative writing seminars for next semester. Even if it's not as cold as last year, my bones know I'm in Oberlin because it's still colder than California on nearly any given day once winter comes. There are a lot of things that don't change, and I'm happy finding more things to ground myself in every day.

The gif above is the first image editing I've done in nearly 3 months, as is evident from my stark absence from the blogs this semester (my last post was in August ... whoops). I hope this little edit is a small apology for my absence, but I'll try to be more prolific next semester. Hopefully I'll find time to come up with some blog posts about all the things that have kept me busy this semester. Until then, thanks for reading!

This is maybe my favorite image edit you've ever done for the blogs. I love how the snow is both really cute and cozy looking in the background but also kind of menacing as it covers up Mudd.

Glad to see that you're back. Good luck with finals!
