{ Getting To Know Me }

Getting to know you/Getting to know all about you/Getting to like you/Getting to hope you like me.

Getting to know you/Putting it my way/But nicely/You are precisely/My cup of tea.

Yes, I just referenced The King and I. My nerdy references will be numerous and often ridiculous. It'll be fun, I promise.

Hi! I'm Patrick. I'm a fourth-year history major from Walnut Creek, CA. I'm excited to be blogging for my fourth and final year at Oberlin and hope that I can convey my love for Oberlin as a town, a community, and an institution.

Like many Oberlin students, I find myself doing way too many things on this campus. The problem is that I'm just not willing to give any of them up. My bio lists some of them, but you'll get a bigger picture of my Oberlin experience as I blog over the next year.

My journey to Oberlin is complicated and deserves at least one, if not two, posts to itself (coming soon...?). Suffice it to say that I'm glad that I ended up here; I can only imagine how miserable my life would have been without Oberlin.

During my four years at Oberlin, I've taken full advantage of the opportunities that are available to Obies: I've been involved with several student organizations, I serve on Student Senate, I've worked for admissions, I've spent a Winter Term interning on the Hill, etc. It's impossible to list everything here, but you get the idea.

So, fair readers, prepare yourself to embark on my Oberlin journey. I hope that my reflections on my time at Oberlin will help you further understand what it means to be an Oberlin student.

Now that this post is out of the way, I get to post about exciting things! I promise I have a second post coming soon!

I'm going to try to start a trend. I'm going to end all of my posts (we'll see how this goes) with a quote. There won't necessarily be a pattern, but I like quotes. So let's start off with one of my favorites:

"If there's one thing to learn from European history, it's that you don't invite the peasants." - Stephen Colbert
