Lists

December 1, 2008

Zoe McLaughlin ’11

You can tell how stressed I am by how many lists I've made, and right now I'm making a lot. The latest one looks like this:

9:00 - 12:00 - Class.
My three main courses this semester are Calc II, Analytical Chemistry, and Cell & Molecular Biology. As you can see, they all meet right in a row, which isn't as bad as it sounds. It leaves the afternoon free for other things, except on the days that I have lab.

12:00 - 4:30 - Lunch, do work.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done, starting with preparing for my chemistry lab tomorrow. It's going to involve using instruments that I haven't had a lot of experience with, which is a good thing...once I've learned how to use them.

4:30 - 7:00 - Violin lesson.
This is my ExCo for this semester. I'm taking lessons on violin in the musical style of Northern India. The reason that this takes so much time is because I drive to my teacher's house. It's definitely worth it, though.

7:00 - 9:45 - Dinner, do work.
Since the dining hall by my dorm is usually closed before I get back, I'll be cooking myself a little something. I think Ramen noodles and I have a date tonight. After I finish the chemistry, there's calculus to do, as well as a bio lab to prepare for, if I feel like getting ahead of schedule.

9:45 - 11:30 - Gondoliers rehearsal.
I'm part of the pit orchestra for this year's performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. The performance is coming up this weekend, so the amount of rehearsals is increasing, along with how late they end. Of course, it wouldn't really be a pit orchestra experience if I wasn't getting home until after 11:00, right?

11:30 - 1:00 - Prepare for chemistry trial.
This is when everyone's schedule in my chemistry group finally matched up. Tonight, we have to write up a report on our findings and figure out who's going to say what during the trial on Saturday. Hopefully it's not going to take that long, but I can already tell that I'll be going to bed late tonight...

It also seems like it's time to figure out what's going on tomorrow. The day starts again, bright and early at 9:00 AM.
