{ Music Opportunities for Non-Music Majors }

Want to make your own banjo out of a gourd? You can do it. Want to be part of a gamelan ensemble? You can do that, too.

{ Recipes for Summertime, Part Two }

{ Have Diploma, Will Travel (Back to College?) }

It turns out that for a pair of liberal college campuses, both boasting large feeder populations from elite(ist) NYC high schools, Cornell and Oberlin couldn't be more different.

{ I Disagree }

In this post: potentially job ending disagreement, politics at Oberlin, liberal ironists vs. liberal revolutionaries, debates to stay up late for, Fox News, and please don't fire me.

{ A glorious return: Commencement Week shenanigans }

There's a flower shop on S. Main that writes a different name on their sign every day, and if you are blessed with that particular name, you get a free flower. I had never seen my own name until this past Commencement.

{ What's that about the bathrooms? }

You may or may not have heard that the bathrooms are gender-neutral at Oberlin. This may or may not concern you, your parents, or someone else whom you hold dear.

{ Graduation: Suits, Sundresses and Speeches! }

Say "commencement" and I think of the iconic hats in the air, traditions, pomp and circumstance, formality... But Oberlin students don't really DO traditional.
